Kim Beggs was born in Val d'Or, Quebec, raised in mining towns of northern Ontario until her family moved to downtown Toronto. She got off the Yukon bound bus in the dead of winter with fifty dollars, a backpack and a cheap pawnshop guitar she was determined to teach herself. Spurred by independence and a drive to be self-sufficient, Kim has spent more than a decade swinging a hammer, building and renovating in the Yukon. About the time she earned her journeyman carpenter papers, she started performing away from the campfire and writing her own material.

Revealed to more than her comrades, was her extraordinary voice loaded with emotional intensity, braced with songwriting that is strong, original and refreshing. She writes about things that move her. Her voice and performance style, have a haunting old-time quality that cut through a crowd with a raw serendipity.
