LISTEN UP is a pan northern compilation project featuring 15 tracks released especially for the 2007 jeux du Canada Winter Games!
Supported by Culture Quest and Produced by Bob Hamilton, Listen UP is a slice of modern north with styles ranging from traditional throat singing and dene drumming to the modern dj/mc work of Nemo & Prhyrme.
Rap artist Godson shares his positive messages to society in a framework of great beats and synth-driven music. Uber-modern solo throat singer Tanya Tagaq Gillis bends tradition yet gives primal expression a new home in DJ Michael Red’s dynamic beats and samples. Singer songwriters Leela Gilday and Indio Saravanja bring northern stories and solid musicianship to the mix, while upcoming groups Scotch, and Death in Venice bring energetic, rock-driven fervour to the album.
