Trouble features Anne Louise Genest on guitar and vocals, beautifully supported by guest artists such as Nathan Tinkham on dobro, guitar, and lap steel, Calvin Vollrath on fiddle, and Kim Barlow on backup vocals. Masterfully produced by Juno Award winner and double nominee Bob Hamilton, Trouble explores a wide range of material, always placing the human experience front and centre.
“… it blew my socks so far off I still can’t find ‘em! Great CD!” Darryl Few, Birch Radio Rochdale, UK
“Great songwriting…sharp and original.” Dan Penn, of the Nashville songwriting duo Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham
“… Anne Louise manages to capture your ear and forces you to listen to her music over and over again. Super debut. Airplay rating 9 out of 10!” Ted Clark, Grensland International Radio, The Netherlands
The title track is a haunting tale with an ominous backwoods hillbilly feel, and we move from there into stories of awakening sexuality, road trips, and heartfelt testimonials to the strength of the human spirit. The texture of instrumentation includes an ancient sounding harmonium, electric guitar with a menacing twang, sweet mandolin, and innovative percussion. These blend wonderfully with Genest’s strong, clear voice and gift for songwriting to transport us into her world of dusty back roads, naugahyde-filled basements, and haunted houses.
Another stellar recording to emerge from Canada’s Yukon Territory.
