"…food was getting low, a fire in the pines, deep bush was the object, of my spinning mind. Met a shaman on a mountain top, his boots were made of dew, we asked him for some grub, he gave us bum gut stew…" from the title track
Water is the life source of all that we are, all that we can be: the nurturing rains of a northern spring; the tears that wash the sadness from our souls; the cool effervescence of a beer on a hot summer day. Back to the Water, Inconnu’s latest CD, is brimming with life-affirming passion, and sustenance.
This collection of songs range from the poetic verse of Nick de Graff’ and his reflections of the land, it’s natural rhythms and majesty to Lucie Desaulnier-Andrieu ‘s francophone joie de vie rooted in familial love and traditions. The anthemic Yukon Song, a Dylan-like parlance of all things northern with invitation to "come along and sing this song, tall shadows all night long" and Andrea McColeman’s accordion ode to O Canada played at the intro. De Graff delivers a pretty ballad and beautiful guitar work in the meandering story of a fellow who Never Went Back Home.
