Cuba is the birthplace to many Latin American rhythms and musical styles. The seven members of Valle Son live in Viñales, a rural village in the lush tobacco growing highlands of Pinar del Rio province, Cuba. The band performs regularly at a local hotel, La Ermita. Valle Son plays unique interpretations of traditional songs, as well as their own compositions.
In the summer of 2000, Valle Son traveled to the Yukon Territory. While in Whitehorse, the band spent three days in the studio with producer Jay Burr to make a recording of their music. The result, Son de Cuba, captures the fiery passion and poetic nature of the Cuban people.
