Big Dream

Big Dream, Anne Louise Genest’s second release on Caribou Records, is an alchemists brew of the best of roots, folk, and old tyme.

Trouble

“A polished debut that blends Genest’s throaty, resonating voicewith a rich texture of dobro, fiddle, electric guitar, and mandolin… storytelling songs imbued with Genest’s own slightly skewed perspective.”
- Michael Hale, Yukon News

Barbara Chamberlin
Sanctuary

This Whitehorse singer, songwriter, and musician treats her audience to a woman’s tale. Her hopes and fears are expressed in poignant and mysterious melodies, a rhythmic meld of Celtic, blues, and soft rock.

Compilations
Listen Up

LISTEN UP is a pan northern compilation project featuring 15 tracks released especially for the 2007 jeux du Canada Winter Games!

Daniel Janke
In a Room

In a Room wraps a number of different ensemble combinations around the mellifluous modal harmonies and rhythmic complexities of the kora -a West African harp/lute.

Dave Haddock
Oil and Water

"Dave Haddock is one of those rare performers who combines the fine art of songwriting with a special craft of musicianship in a way that is uniquely our Canadian own."

Dave Essig

Gene Brown
Breakin' Wild Horses

Gene Brown presents to all country music lovers around Canada and the world, his first country music CD featuring ten original songs.

Glacial Erratics
Tides of Change

Further exploration on the "women in folk" theme by this Alaska/Yukon four-piece ensemble. More great songs to reach through the bitter winter cold and warm your heart with harmonic happiness.

Moving Mountains

First transnorthern folk recording of music crated by two Alaskan and two Yukon women! Guitar, mandolin, banjo, and accordion combine with 4 part harmonies to create music from the campfire to your kitchen.

Hungry Hill

Hungry Hill is a contemporary bluegrass unit with a focus on original material. Based in Northwestern Canada, the band features five seasoned musicians with a desire to create a fresh sound while staying true to the roots of bluegrass and oldtime music.

Inconnu
Inconnu

The self-titled debut release from Inconnu was the first independent commercial CD project in the Yukon. Combining the use of tuba and lively accordion with guitar and drums and the upbeat vocals made this album a big hit in the Yukon and beyond.

Back To The Water

Inconnu’s spirited sound is lively and unpretentious with an underlying hint of cabin fever delirium. Cajun, blues, and jazz arrangements combine with nature-inspired reflections, to warm the soul and raise the heartbeat.

Indio Saravanja

Indio Saravanja's self-titled debut album is the real deal. Troubador Texas meets the Lower East Side, via endless miles of snow-covered Canadian highway.

Champ

Kim Barlow's new recording, Champ, is a collection of earthy, wry
allegories about love, death and horses. There is a playful defiance
in these songs; a reckoning of lost battles and a Yukon-honed
resilience punctuated by moments of unhindered joy.

luckyburden

Caribou Records is pleased to announce the much-anticipated arrival of Kim Barlow's latest CD release, luckyburden, a collection of songs about work, love and mixed blessings in Keno City.

Keno City was the centre of Yukon silver mining from 1914 to 1989. People immigrated from all over the world to make their lives in the remote, northern mining town perched high in the Gustavus Range, 400 km north of Whitehorse.

Wilderness Tips

Wilderness Tips is a response to the Yukon Journey Project, a trip to various remote parts of the Yukon and NWT with 12 Canadian Artists - the recording is commissioned by the Yukon Arts Centre.

Gingerbread

Gingerbread beckons you into a world of fairy tales, with engaging stories of people, love, and grand adventures, all grounded in the magical Yukon landscape.

Humminah

"Barlow is at her best when giving free reign to her marvelous imagination and hybrid approach to construction and phrasing. She really shines as a lyricist…even her throwaway lines seem alive with irony and keen observation."
Hank Davis, Goldmine magazine

Streetcar Heart

Streetcar Heart is a melodic, poetic, powerful medley of the first four years of Kim’s songwriting exploration. The songs are about human frailty and the strength within it.

Wanderer's Paean

Wanderer's Paean (payin) is her second full-length album and although quite distinct from the first album Streetcar Heart (2004), it promises to be just as poetic and memorable.

Longest Night Ensemble
not too DARK

Longest Night is an annual music-driven stage event celebrating winter solstice. It employs an unorthodox 11-piece chamber group to play the role of both pit orchestra and concert ensemble. The album, not too DARK is a retrospective of selected music accompanied by a printed collection of short stories from the past five years.

Manfred Janssen
Familiar Ground

Hailing from Ontario, singer/songwriter Manfred Janssen traveled north up the Alaska Highway more than 20 years ago. The Yukon has provided for a simple life of opportunity to discover himself as an artist. He has played in many groups, toured nationally and internationally, and his recent release Familiar Ground has received enthusiastic and promising reviews.

Rory Merritt Stitt
Harlequin

Harlequin is full of long melodies, short hooks, catchy piano riffs and soulful vocals. Piano driven theatre-pop.

The Narcissist

The Narcissist is Rory's debut album. It's cold music with a warm heart, Tori Amos meets Oingo Boingo, or perhaps 80's synth pop in a Victorian music salon.

Undertakin' Daddies
Post Atomic Hillbilly

The Undertakin' Daddies explore the darker side of roots music in the tradition of the brother era (Delmore, Monroe, Lowin). Their Appalachian sound features stand up bass, mandolin, harmonica, and guitar, and appeals to new fans and traditionalists alike.

Devil in the Rearview

With their second release, the Undertakin' Daddies continue to mine the depths of their acoustic roots, taking inspiration from vintage country and bluegrass music. These influences come together in contemporary, original songs relating to movement; along highways, rivers, through love and over time. Looking back over the past, you try running away but that is not possible, and you wind up with the Devil in the Rearview.

Son De Cuba

Cuba is the birthplace to many Latin American rhythms and musical styles. The seven members of Valle Son live in Viñales, a rural village in the lush tobacco growing highlands of Pinar del Rio province, Cuba. The band performs regularly at a local hotel, La Ermita. Valle Son plays unique interpretations of traditional songs, as well as their own compositions.

No Se Tire Compay

This album was recorded with original band members in the summer of 2003 and we have held their release until this time as the band lineup has changed.
